Wind and solar power reach record 17% share of U.S. electricity generation in 2025

In 2025, wind and solar energy combined accounted for a record 17% of total U.S. electricity generation, producing approximately 760,000 GWh. Wind contributed about 10% (464,000 GWh), while utility-scale solar reached 7% (296,000 GWh), with small-scale solar adding another 93,000 GWh.
